GenCon brings the premiere of a new Domain of Greyhawk trilogy! Whispers Beneath the Cairns, A Measure of Debt, and Architect of Silence, as well as the new Domain of Greyhawk Special: The Black Star Commission!

Legends of Greyhawk’s first Trading Post event arrives at GenCon! This trading post will be a ticketed event to avoid issues with scheduling and lines conflicting with your game. A visit to the Trading Post is also included with D&D eXPerience tickets! At the Trading Post, you’ll have an opportunity to trade or purchase unique items, as well as having the ability to transform an un-certed magic item into a physical cert! All proceeds from Trading Post ticket sales will benefit charity.

GenCon badges are already on sale, and hotels are largely filled for attendees, but Baldman Games DMs can qualify for a room-share as part of their benefits!

Games in the Cloud

A little over FIVE YEARS ago, discussions around Project Glow Cloud (all hail) began, a plan to expand the Virtual D&D Weekends outside of their weekends with a “home game”-like format to enable longer campaign-style games to be played with a single DM. 

When we first rolled it out, it was a small beta test, a pilot-progam of only 3 games, to see if it even made sense. In the intervening years, it has seen dozens of successful campaigns concluded (and a few that didn’t make it).


In those 5 years we’ve run a West-Marches-style game; we separated it from the VDDWs and expanded it to include games outside D&D, and we’ve changed ticketing platforms twice, plus on its own dedicated admin, the incredible Jess!

And now we are at the 5th anniversary of HGitC, we’re looking to take the next step! Home Game in the Cloud is getting its first-ever spin-off:

Announcing One-Shots in the Cloud!

We’ve noticed that many players (and DMs) seem hesitant to try systems outside the familiar D&D 5e/5.5e format, and that’s understandable. Committing to a campaign when you don’t know if you’ll like the game system is a lot.

One Shots in the Cloud is here to lower that bar with one-to-two session non-D&D games with no ongoing commitment. Dip your toe, see if you like it. If not? Move on. If you want more? More One-Shots, or a Home Game in the Cloud!

For now this is just a pilot program, just a few tables to see if there’s enough interest to make this program viable. After the first round of games happens (or doesn’t) we’ll take a short pause to evaluate, make any adjustments needed, and then hopefully bring it back!

Expect the first tables to start recruiting this week!

Red Carpet Changes Starting in July

Originally the Red Carpet Experience was conceived of as an online counterpoint to the DDXP tracks at our big in-person shows: a top-notch, vetted DM, paired up with you and your friends for a track of adventures. The difference being that you plan the schedule for Red Carpets―also, we still haven’t figured out how to get snacks to players efficiently 😜

We eventually added early-access to Red Carpet players as a little extra “premium” perk, but when we did, we promised it wouldn’t let it become a way for players to “buy” early access, as we have a strict stance that we don’t want that at VDDWs.

Over time, though, we’ve seen the Red Carpet program drift a bit, with more and more groups becoming a couple core players and the rest recruited per-game. While we don’t think anyone is trying to game Early Access, we want to be vigilant and proactively address the concerns we’ve heard from some members of our community.

So, starting with July, we will only accept Red Carpet Bookings for fixed groups of players―and those players will need to be named in the Booking form. Now, we understand life happens, we’re willing to make minor exceptions if, for example one player has to work and will miss a game, we’re willing to allow very limited player substitutions, on a case-by-case basis, but the intent will be a fixed group playing through.

We’ll be updating wording on the website soon to make this very clear.

Otherwise, if you’re looking to make sure a certain game happens in a slot that works for you, please feel free to organize with other players in the VDDW-Game-planning forum, we do monitor it; or consider a HGitC option for longer series of adventures that don’t fit well into a VDDW.

The third Ferrond trilogy wraps up with LoG-RoF 1-9, rounding out the adventures that debuted at Origins. LoG-DoG 1-4 and LoG-DoG 1-5 also make their debut, right after their premiere at GenCon!

Online debuts for Author-Only adventures continue into August, but you’ll have to tune into Scry Ahead to find out what’s coming up!

What’s an Author-Only? They’re adventures that are made and run by Legends of Greyhawk campaign staff and Premiere Organizers like Baldman Games, and WotC!

Reminder: Plans are only PLANS and are subject to change! The further out we go, the more likely content is to change!
